During this assignment, students will understand definition and application of press releases and backgrounders by creating their own, and writing an analysis of various media campaigns. To accomplish this activity, students will read and research specific websites and media examples. As a result of this learning activity, students will understand and create press kits including press releases and backgrounders by preparing these documents about an event in their life. Additionally, becoming familiar with a brief history and overview of contemporary forms of communications technology will provide a well-rounded perspective from which to analyze media.
